Упражнения на much, many и a lot of с ответами

Much и many значат «много», но работают с разными словами. Many для того, что можно посчитать (many books, many people), much для того, что не считается (much water, much time). A lot of подходит к обоим, и в утвердительных предложениях его используют чаще всего.

Коротко о правиле

• В утверждениях естественнее a lot of: I have a lot of friends. Much и many звучат в вопросах и отрицаниях: Do you have many friends? I don't have much time.
• Few и little значат «мало, недостаточно», а a few и a little значат «немного, но есть».

Частые ошибки

How much people? Люди исчисляемые: How many people?

I have many money. Деньги неисчисляемые: I have a lot of money.

I have much friends. В утверждении естественнее I have a lot of friends.

a lots of time. Либо a lot of, либо lots of: a lot of time или lots of time.

I have few money. С неисчисляемыми: I have little money.

Когда much, а когда many?

Many с исчисляемыми существительными во множественном числе: many books, many people. Much с неисчисляемыми: much time, much money, much water.

Почему в утверждениях лучше a lot of?

I have much time звучит книжно и редко встречается в речи. В утверждениях говорят a lot of или lots of: I have a lot of time. Much и many остаются для вопросов и отрицаний.

Чем few отличается от a few?

Few значит «мало, почти нет», с оттенком сожаления: few people came. A few значит «несколько, немного есть»: a few people came. Так же little и a little.

Деньги исчисляемые или нет?

Слово money неисчисляемое: much money, how much money. Считаются только сами купюры и единицы: many dollars, how many roubles.
